You sort of did this," Scully stopped mid-stride in the corridor of her apartment block and tried to imitate the odd expression that Mulder had made a few hours earlier. "I did not!" Mulder cried through his laughter. "I don't even know how to make my eyes do that!" He placed the baseball cap upon her head, blushing slightly and turned to look at the bat in his hand. Scully pulled the cap down and grinned back as they began walking again. They had spent much of the afternoon in the park practising their baseball, being surrounded by kids and ended up playing a game. And now, since they'd left, all they had done was argue playfully like teenagers. "How do you make your eyes do that?!" Mulder suddenly asked as they rounded the corner towards her door. "I don't know-" "And your little 'roly eye' thing you do whenever I say something remarkably intelligent?" Scully scoffed and gently whacked him on the arm with the baseball glove. "Hey!" "Intelligent, Mulder?" She raised her eyebrows. "Don't you mean insane?" A moment passed as they both stared at each other, willing the other to break. Scully bit her bottom lip in attempt to stop the laughter, but it was no good. The laughter came rolling out uncontrollably and she brought a hand up to cover her mouth. "Right! That's it!" Mulder dropped the bat on the floor and immediately began tickling Scully. Letting out a yelp, she squirmed in his grasp, the cap falling off of her head and onto the floor. "Stop it! Mulder stop it!" She banged her fists against his arms and back but her inane giggles took away all her strength and she was left defenceless against Mulder's muscular frame. "Never!" Mulder cried. He reached around her waist, picking her up from the ground and thrust her over his shoulder. "Mulder!" Scully cried. But she'd given up fighting him and just went with it, her raucous laughter echoing down the hall as he ran to her door. "Mulder, put me down!" Mulder froze. His feet rooted to the spot as the smile on his face changed to shock. "Mulder?" Scully called out. Her laughter had subsided; Mulder's sudden action quelling it for now, but a smile was clearly detectable in her voice as she spoke. He lowered her to the ground almost mechanically, her feet standing before his and her eyes glued to his. Mulder swallowed, unable to answer the silent question in her eyes and placing his hands on her shoulders, span her round to see exactly what he saw before him. There staring back at her, were another pair of equally shocked eyes. Scully suddenly felt incredibly conscious of herself leaning back against Mulder and stood up straight, his hands also dropping from her shoulders and down to his sides. They both coughed, simultaneously clearing their throats - they had some explaining to do. "We were just...." "...Just...." Mulder jabbed his thumb back behind him as if it would give some sort of explanation. Oddly enough Scully did the same. "...Playing..." "Baseball." Mulder mumbled finally. Clearing his throat obviously was never going to make a difference. Maggie just smiled and nodded. "I see. Would you mind if I steal my daughter for a few moments?" She asked looking solely at Mulder. "No," Mulder shook his head and he forced out the words. "No, you go ahead. I'll just..." He pointed a finger back at the baseball cap and bat discarded upon the floor further down the corridor, and began walking back. With cheeks as bright as her hair, Scully unlocked her front door and let her and her mother in. "Dana?" Maggie said just as Mulder was out of earshot. Scully looked up into her mother's eyes, too embarrassed to reply. "Don't ever tell me that you and Fox are just friends." Though her voice was clear and strong, there was no mistaking the smile on her lips. Scully shook her head, almost in disbelief - she should have known that she couldn't keep the truth from her mother for long. A grin broke across her face and she gave her mom a big warm hug. "I wont."
