She sat up, gasping for breath and looked beside her to see if she had woken her lover. Unsurprisingly, Fox Mulder sat up and immediately enveloped her in his strong arms. " It's okay, Dee. Just a nightmare, I'm here," he murmured soothingly, lying back down and taking her with him. He spooned himself around her and nuzzled her neck. " I won't let anything hurt you." Scully felt her breathing even out and her heart slow down. She closed her eyes and was drifting off to sleep again, safe in Mulder's arms...............The phone rang shrilly, disturbing the peace.* Sleepily, Dana Scully reached for the phone, startled out of her sleep by the unpleasant sound. She'd been dreaming again. She looked beside her, her heart falling when she saw an empty space. It had just been a dream. Mulder wasn't with her anymore. He was in his own apartment with no memory of their love or their friendship. He just recognized her as a girl-next-door type of person, the woman he shared no more than a professional relationship with. With a heavy sigh, she reached for the phone and lifted it from it's cradle. " Hello?" She answered unenthusiastically. " Dana? It's Frohike," came the nervous reply. Scully sat up straight, something was wrong. He'd called her 'Dana' instead of 'Scully'. " Frohike? What's wrong? Is it Mulder?" She demanded, her heart pounding as she sensed something was wrong. " Kind of. Firstly, you know he doesn't remember, he's not himself. If he was..." His voice trailed off as he swallowed the lump in his throat. " He' s...He's engaged to Diana," Frohike blurted out. His statement was met with silence. A very long silence. Scully felt her eyes well up with tears. She moved her lips but no words came out. " It's only temporary, till he remembers. We don't even know why or how or when.... All we know is Diana called to tell us Mulder believes they're engaged and the doctors have advised not to let him know the truth..." More silence. Frohike began to get worried. " It's only till he remembers. We're looking into it now, to se if she was telling the truth or if she's manipulated him.. You know how he feels about you.. Dana? Scully, are you there?" " I'm here." Her voice was barely a whisper. " Thank you for telling me, I.." " I'm sure he'll remember," Frohike sounded desperate. " He just needs time. He loves you, you know that. He has no feelings for Diana." " I know he thought he loved me, I'm.. I'm not sure anymore," she whispered as silent tears streamed down her face and her heart wrenched painfully. " He does love you! You have to believe that!" Frohike stated, his pain for her showing through. " I know you believe that, Hickey. And I want to but... His sub-conscious chose Diana, not me," her voice caught on a sob. " I think it'd be best if I went away for a while..." " You can't, the wedding's in two weeks. I think Diana's scared he'll remember so she's pushing to get married before.." Scully cut him off. " I can't be here, not when he's.... Not for the wedding," she murmured weakly. " Just keep an eye on him and keep me informed. I'll call you. 'Bye, Frohike. Take care of him." Scully hung up and buried her face in her pillow as she sobbed, her body wracking with the force, her heart broken. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- Apartment of Fox Mulder. He stood staring out of the widow, trying to remember how many times he'd stared at the street before. He hated not knowing, not remembering. So many people had been hurt by his amnesia, himself being only one of many. His mind flickered to his fiancee, Diana Fowley. He couldn't help feeling... He sighed. He didn't know how to categorize how he felt about her. He had been confused since meeting her. She seemed like someone he had trusted but at the same time, he felt as though she'd betrayed him. He also felt their engagement was..wrong. She'd told him they'd been engaged for two months, that they'd loved each other and they'd been together for a long time. For some reason, however, he felt as though his engagement meant he was betraying someone, he felt like he was betraying someone. Mulder sighed and shook his head, trying to shake away the confusion and fog that swirled around his brain instead of memories. His mind focused on his partner, Dana Scully. She hadn't left the hospital whilst he'd been there. She'd stayed with him and had held his hand when the doctors told him the news, she'd held him and cried with him when he realized it could be permanent although the doctors thought it was just temporary. Mulder was surprised he thought more about Dana, or Scully as he used to call her, more than he did about Diana. He also wanted to remember the times they'd shared together more than the times he'd shared with Diana. He cared about Dana, he knew she cared about him. He felt bad for her, he hurt for her and he felt guilty that it was he who was causing her pain. She 'd stopped visiting after Diana had taken over and he found that he missed her, he missed her visits. She didn't ell him about his past and she tried to hide her own pain and put him first. She talked to him about his feelings and they talked about baseball and basketball and the Knicks game.... They had fun together. And she hadn't mentioned the accident a thousand times like Diana had, she knew he didn't want to talk about it, that he didn't remember it. Mulder hadn't seen Dana in two days and he felt it. He felt the absence of her presence. He felt alone, even with Diana. When Dana wasn't there, he felt something was missing. He felt like a part of himself was missing, he missed her. Mulder slapped himself mentally. He stopped himself from thinking anymore. He was angry at himself for not remembering and he was guilty that he couldn't remember. He forced himself to think good things about his future. That sounded wrong, it felt wrong but even in his darkest thoughts, Mulder didn't know just how wrong it was. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------- Part Two Apartment of Fox Mulder. Mulder had been staring out of the window for over an hour when he heard a soft knock at the door. Sensing the knock wasn't Diana's, he moved over to the door and looked through the spy-hole. He grinned when he saw Dana on the doorstep but his grin faded when he saw her red and blotchy eyes. He opened the door and stood aside to let her come in. " Hi," he greeted her, watching her step in and look around. " Hey," she turned and looked at him, biting her lip nervously. " I heard, about the engagement. I guess I should say congratulations." " I guess," he shrugged and took a step closer to her. " Are you okay, Dana? You look like you've been crying." " I'm fine," she forced a smile. " I'm sorry for calling round so late, I know you need your rest.." " I was up anyway," he motioned to the couch. " Please, sit. You want a coffee or anything?" " No, that's okay," she sat down and looked around, looking everywhere but at him. " You should have been resting, you should be resting." " I feel fine, I was just thinking," he sat at the opposite Side of the couch and looked at her carefully. She'd lost weight since he'd woken up to find her beside him at the hospital. " Thinking about what?" She tilted her head to one side. " I hope you weren' t thinking about... before this happened. The doctors said if you pushed yourself too much, you might never remember." " I wasn't pushing myself," he rolled his eyes at her before his expression grew serious. " Were you always this worried about me?" " I'm not supposed to.." He cut her off by reaching across and putting a finger to her lips. " Diana's told me things about our past, I'm sure you can, despite what the doctors say. I want you to," his fingered lingered over her lips until she moved his hand away, not expecting him to take hold of her hand tightly and move closer. " So, were you always worried about me?" " Oh, yeah. You always got yourself into trouble," she tried to joke but failed as her eyes kept falling to their entwined hands. " I worried about you but most of the time it was for no reason, you can look after yourself. Most of the time." " Were we close?" He asked, looking at her sad expression. " Is that why you 're sad?" " We... We were good friends, Mulder. And we were partners, we looked out for each other. If I'd been looking out for you more....." She swallowed the lump in her thought and blinked back tears, struggling to come to terms with her own guilt. " Maybe we wouldn't be in this situation." " Don't blame yourself, please," his pleading tone surprised her. She looked up to find his eyes were also full of tears. " I don't want you to blame yourself, Dana. It was an accident." " Has Diana told you about the accident?" Scully asked curiously. " All she's said is that you and I were assisting her on a case of some sort. I had a run in with some suspects.." He shrugged and sighed. " She hasn't been very helpful with it." " I'm glad. The last thing you need is to be talking about the accident and you should be resting, so I'll tell you what I came to tell you and then I' ll let you get some sleep." " Okay," he sighed and leaned back into the couch, still keeping hold of her hand. " I'm... I'm going away for a while," she cleared her throat and forced herself not to look at him. " I just came to say goodbye." " Goodbye?" He sat up again and faced her, trying to catch her gaze. " That sounds pretty permanent." " It could be, I don't know yet. I've been offered a job and I'm gonna give it a try, to see if I like it," she lied. Mulder nodded, seeing through the lie but not wanting to say anything to upset her. " I just wanted to tell you in person so I could say goodbye." " You're not coming to the wedding, are you?" His shoulder's slumped in resignation, he'd been counting on her to be there in case something went wrong. " I can't be there, Mulder," she sighed deeply then realizing how that sounded, she quickly searched her mind for something else to say. All throughout, Mulder was staring at her expectantly. " I mean.... I can't." " I think I understand," he answered slowly. " I wish you could be there, though." " Well, I've got to go," she stood up, breaking the link of their hands and feeling the loss instantly. " I hope you're happy, Mulder." " I hope you are, too. And try to keep in touch, Dana," he stood and followed her to the door, stopping her by putting a gentle hand on her arm. " Thank you, for staying with me whilst I was in the hospital. I.. It meant a lot to me." " I..... I was re-paying the favor, Mulder. For all those times you've kept me company." The corners of her lips curved slightly into a soft smile but it didn't last. " How many times have you been in hospital?" He asked curiously. " I had cancer, a while back," she explained, remembering he didn't know. You were with me through that." " But you've not got cancer now, have you?" He looked worried, his eyes searching hers. " No, I'm in remission," she assured him. " Good," he grinned happily but the grin faded when he remembered that they were saying goodbye. " I guess this is it." " For now," Scully agreed softly, not wanting to think about not seeing him again for the rest of her life although that was her intention. She sighed, seeing his reluctance to say goodbye written clearly in his eyes. " Goodbye, Mulder." She stood on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek softly. Mulder held her close and pressed his lips to hers, acting on a impulse he couldn't explain but enjoyed. He kissed her tenderly and she kissed him back until she reminded herself that he was engaged and pulled away, leaving them both breathless. " I've got to go," she mumbled, moving away towards the door. " I'm sorry," he called out. She stopped and turned round. " Really, I didn' t mean..." " It's alright, Mulder. I know it didn't mean anything, you're engaged to Diana," she lowered her gaze and looked at the floor, her heart aching. " It 's okay." " No, it's not. I shouldn't have kissed you but I did and I liked it," he looked worried. " I don't want to lose you as a friend." " You could never lose me," she forced a smile. " Goodbye, Mulder." " Goodbye, Dana. But let's not mean goodbye for ever," he added hopefully. " It's not for ever, Mulder," Scully told him, not knowing how truthful she was being with him and herself. " We'll see each other again." " Good," Mulder felt relieved but his relief was short-lived as she opened the door and stepped into the hall, closing it behind her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------- Scully made it to her car before the tears started falling. She touched her lips, remembering and savoring the feel of his lips on hers, knowing that her memories might be the only thing she would have to remember Mulder by. She took a deep breath and looked at the suitcase on the back seat and then at her watch. She had to get to the airport if she was going to catch her flight and attempt to put all of the pain behind her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- Mulder watched her from his window and watched her drive away, his heart falling. He felt lost already, only this time he wasn't sure if the part of himself that felt missing would ever come back. He sighed heavily and forced the kiss out of his mind, telling himself over and over that it had been a mistake and nothing more. He was in love with Diana, wasn't he? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Part Three Apartment of Dana Scully, New York City. She was dreaming again. She knew she was but she couldn't wake herself up so she was forced to witness the event that had changed her life forever............ *She was in the warehouse again. It was dark and the air was damp. She felt Mulder hovering protectively behind her as he always did when she took the lead. They couldn't hear or see any of the other agents and they couldn't hear or see the suspect's they were after. Diana Fowley appeared in front of them and Scully wondered to herself where she'd been. Before she could look to Mulder to see his reaction, Diana was gone. Mulder touched the small of her back, jolting her back to reality and they walked slowly on.... The next few moments were a blur in her memory. She heard someone yell out a 'Watch out!' and felt Mulder push her aside. She fell to the floor as Mulder took the brunt of the attack. He was hit over the head with a large plank of wood by their main suspect. Scully saw him fall to the floor, a thin trickle of blood running down his neck. She felt instant tears sting her eyes and felt helpless and alone. fear gripping her heart in a way it never had before. She was dimly aware of gun shots as she crawled over to Mulder's limp body and cradled his head in her lap. She stroked back from his face, unable to stop the tears streaming down her cheeks. She heard someone shout for back-up and paramedics but she concentrated on Mulder, too much in shock to do anything other than hold him and pray he was okay. She stayed with him in the ambulance and stubbornly clung onto him when he coded and was clinically dead for two minutes. She refused to leave the hospital whilst he was in surgery and then she stayed by his bedside as he lay in a coma, not knowing whether the swelling in his brain would lead to death or some kind of amnesia.* Scully cried in her sleep, remembering the accident clearly. It was her crying that woke her. She sobbed into her pillow and felt her heart break all over again at the memories. Eventually, she fell into a dreamless slumber. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- Fox Mulder's apartment, D.C. Mulder sat alone at his desk, gazing blankly into space. His mind was blank as he tried to remember proposing to Diana. He decided to instead try to remember any times he'd spent with Dana but again came up with nothing. Heaving a heavy sigh, Mulder stood up and walked through to his bedroom. He was pleased Diana had agreed to give him his 'personal space' until they were married as it meant he had time alone to think. Mulder wearily got into bed and turned off the bedside lamp. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep. *He was lying on a blanket, next to a lake. He was looking up at the clear blue sky, lost in his own thoughts until he felt a movement beside him. He turned on his side and found himself gazing into the baby blue eyes of Dana Scully. He grinned as it came back to him. Their first official date, a picnic by Lake Tahoe, his treat after dragging her out on another pointless case and effectively cancelling their planned first date. She smiled at him, a devious look in her eyes. "What?" He asked curiously. " I was just wondering..." Her voice trailed off and she smiled shyly. " Wondering what?" He pressed her for an answer, wanting to know what she was thinking. " Wondering if you were ever going to kiss me." The shy smile turned into a sly grin and he rolled her over until she was pinned down. " Well, well, well, Miss. Scully," he teased softly, his hazel eyes never leaving hers. " I thought you were such a good girl..." He leaned down and brushed her lips with his lightly, teasing her. " And I never knew you were such a tease. You can talk the talk but when it comes to walking the walk..." He silenced her with a long, passionate kiss that they'd been looking forward to after six long years of longing and waiting. When the kiss ended, it left them both feeling a little breathless and looking more than a little flushed. Scully laughed, a sound Mulder loved to hear but heard too rarely. " What is it now?" Mulder asked, feeling confused and a little unsure of himself. " Nothing! Just you can walk the walk after all.... Even if it did take you six years to prove it.." She smiled lovingly and shifted so they were lying on their sides, facing each other. " You could have made the first move, it is the 90's!" He joked draping an arm casually over her, his hand drawing lazy circles on her back underneath the thin T-shirt she wore. Scully laughed again, making him smile and ran her fingers through his hair, edging closer with a seductive look on her face. " I might not have made this first move but I can make some other moves..." Mulder arched an eyebrow, surprised at her tone and look. Dana Scully being seductive was something he wasn't used to but hoped to see a lot more of in the future. He just stared at her, his tounge darting out to lick his dry lips and she laughed again. Mulder grinned back at her, his eyes sparkling. " Maybe we should go back to the hotel..." He suggested in a whisper. She nodded her agreement, laughing again as he practically leapt up and pulled her to her feet before hurriedly throwing everything back into the basket. Mulder grinned a silly grin as he looked at her. They were now in his hotel room. He reached out to touch her, to kiss her again...* Mulder woke with a start. He sat up and looked beside him. The bed was empty. He listened for any sign of movement in the apartment. He heard nothing. He groaned and slumped back down onto the bed. he reminded himself, trying to put Dana Scully out of his mind. A small voice from another part of his mind -or was it his heart?- argued. His confused mind tried to reason. The voice taunted. " Shut up!" Mulder groaned and buried his head under the pillow. " Dana's gone, I'm marrying Diana. That's the way it's going to be." The voice added, moments before Mulder drifted off into another sleep, filled with dreams of Dana Scully and a past that he couldn't remember taking place... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------- Part Four. Church in Washington DC. The ceremony was supposed to begin in an hour. Mulder was dressed in his tuxedo walking around the church grounds. Something felt wrong, something felt very wrong. He was supposed to be marrying Diana, wasn't he? He did love her. Didn't he? Mulder shook his head as he made his way to the church. He glanced at his watch. Diana would be there soon. They had apparently only planned a small wedding, close family and friends. Mulder remembered looking over the guest list Diana had brought to his apartment. He frowned to himself, trying to recall all of the names. He didn't recognize any of them. Dana's name wasn't even on the list which surprised him, neither was his mothers. Diana said it was because Scully had already mentioned not being able to attend and his mother wasn't going to be there as she disapproved of the whole thing. As it happened, there were only going to be four guests, one of them was an old man, a friend of Diana's. The other three were members of the Lone Gunmen who'd he'd befriended again in the last two weeks. He sighed heavily again before entering the church and slowly making his way down the aisle to the altar. That was when it hit him. --------------------------------------------------------- -------------------- At the same time, the Bride-to-be was out in the courtyard with her associate, CGB Spender. Diana Fowley tossed her brown hair over her shoulder casually as she listened to her orders and tried not to smile. She was getting what she wanted. In more way than one. CGB Spender was 'promoting' her and was obviously pleased with her for manipulating Mulder's memory loss for their own good. She was also pleased because she had managed to get rid of Dana Scully and the threat she posed. She got Mulder to herself and CGB Spender thought she was making the ultimate sacrifice for the project. Nothing could go wrong. She was confident that Scully wouldn't be back to cause trouble between Mulder and herself and she was confisdent Mulder wouldn't remember the truth. At least, not until it was too late. --------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------- Mulder's head jerked up and he realized he'd been standing staring into space for the last few minutes. He looked down at himself and then slowly looked around, taking everything in for what seemed like the first time. He turned slowly as he heard movement at the back of the church. He couldn't help but grin as he saw the Gunmen watching him nervously. He strode towards them like a man with a purpose. " Where's Scully?" He demanded. " Where'd she go?" Before they could answer, Diana Fowley entered in a cream suit with no one other than CGB Spender. They stopped on seeing the look on Mulder's face, both knowing the game was up. Fowley looked around for an exit but Mulder strode up to her and CGB Spender. He looked angrier than she had ever seen him before and she couldn't help but wince as he glared at them coldly. " I should have known you would be behind this," Mulder spat bitterly at CGB Spender before turning his piercing gaze to Diana. "And you. You honestly thought I'd marry you if I had the choice? I'm discusted at the thought." Mulder began walking away, looking like he was restraining himself from getting violent. " Where are you going, Mr. Mulder?" CGB Spender calmly took a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. " Miss Scully is gone." " I'm going to find her," Mulder answered, squaring his shoulders. " Good luck trying." " What the Hell is that supposed to mean?" Mulder spun ropund. " If you've laid one hand on her, I swear to God I'll...." " You're the only one who's hurt her, Agent Mulder. And you did a good job. She's hidden herself well, I haven't even been able to track her down. Maybe you could start a missing person's report." CGB Spender exhaled a cloud of smoke. " I'll find her and I'll tell her the truth," Mulder answered, his determination evident in his expression. With that, Mulder left the church, his heart and his mind set on finding Scully. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------- Part Five House of Mrs. Scully. Margaret Scully sat with Walter Skinner in her silent living room. They both kept glancing at the clock, wondering what was going on at the wedding. Maggie couldn't stand seeing her daughter so hurt. She'd encouraged Scully to get away for a while, to try and put the hurt and the pain behind her. She knew her daughter's heart was breaking with the loss of a friend and lover. Maggie sighed heavily and averted her gaze from the clock to Walter. They'd spent a lot of time together recently, both of them were worried about Mulder and Scully. Walter was Walter Skinner, an Assistant Director at the FBI and her daughter's boss. He obviously cared deeply for Mulder and Scully and was as surprised as Maggie to find out that Mulder was marrying Diana Fowley. They looked sadly at each other before turning their attention back to the clock and their thoughts. ------------------------------------------------------------------ They both jumped when they heard pounding on the door. Maggie stood to go and answer it and Skinner followed silently. " Fox!" Maggie gasped. " What are you doing here?" Mulder was ushered into the house and saw Skinner. He stared at his boss in surprise for a few moments before masking his surprise and remembering why he was here. " I need to know where Dana is." It was a statement, not a question. " Agent Mulder? Why aren't you at the church?" Skinner asked in confusion. " No." Mulder shook his head. " I remembered everything. This whole wedding thing was a scam thought up by Agent Fowley and Cancer Man. I need to find Scully, I have to tell her." " Oh, Fox," Maggie hugged him tightly. " I'm so glad you've remembered but I'm sorry, I can't help you." She pulled away and sighed. " Dana didn't tell me where she was going. She wanted to be completely alone with her thoughts. I'm sorry." Mulder took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair. He was silent for a moment, deep in thought. " Do you know of anywhere she might be? Anywhere she goes sometimes?" " I really don't know. She used to go to our family summer house in California but we sold it years ago, soon after her father died," Maggie frowned, deep in thought. She sighed heavily. " I'm sorry, Fox. I really am but I don't know. The only thing I can suggest is wait. She'll call when she's ready." " Okay," Mulder's shoulder's slumped. " When she calls, can you tell her to call me? Or take her phone number so I can call her?" " I will, Fox," Maggie promised. " I'm sure Dana will call soon, she knows I'd worry about her if she didn't." Mulder left with a heavy heart, heading somewhere where he could be alone with his memories. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- Dulles Airport. Scully sighed as she heaved her bag over her shoulder and walked out of the airport. She hailed a cab and climbed in, giving the driver the directions to her apartment. She sat in the back of the cab, fighting back tears. She'd tried to forget Mulder and the accident but she'd failed. She remembered he was gone every morning when she woke up alone and every night when she tried to fall asleep without his arms around her. She tried not to imagine him reciting his vows to Diana but she couldn't stop herself, or the tear that ran down her cheek. She swiped at it angrily, trying to stop the tears falling until she was in the comfort of her own apartment. -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Apartment of Dana Scully. She unlocked the door and entered the apartment without reaching for the light switch. She let her bag slide off her shoulder and fall onto the floor before walking over to her couch and sitting down. She closed her eyes and leaned back into the couch, some tears escaping from under her eyelids. She wept silently, curling up onto the couch. She was so emersed in her crying that she didn't notice the movement in the doorway behind her. ------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ He watched her crying on the couch and he felt a strange combination of emotions sweep over him. He was relieved that she was here but he hated seeing her so upset. Mulder quietly walked towards the couch. He knealt on the floor in front of her and reached out to put a hand on her knee. Scully jumped, startled. She blinked as she looked at him, as though she couldn't believe her eyes. " Mulder?" She asked, her voice raw from crying. " What are you doing here?" " I could ask you the same thing," he joked, trying to lighten the mood. " I....I couldn't stay away. I needed to be here." She looked at him, frowning slightly. " Why are you here? Shouldn't you be on your honeymoon..? Unless...." " I've remembered, Dana. I remembered everything before the wedding. I'm so sorry. I love you so much." He cupped her cheek tenderly with his hand. " I'm sorry." " Why are you sorry?" She asked softly, leaning forward to gaze into his eyes. " You did nothing wrong." " I believed her, I believed I was engaged to her." The guilty look he wore tugged at her heart strings. " I never meant to hurt you, Dana. You know I love you and only you." " Mulder, I believe you," she smiled tearfully and felt tears run down her cheeks although this time they were tears of happiness. Mulder's face broke out into a wide grin. He pulled her down into his lap, wrapping his arms around her tightly and burying his head in the crook of her neck. She closed her eyes, savouring the feel of his strong arms around her. " I love you too, so much." " Mmm," he murmured, kissing her neck. " I shouldn't have believed her, I should have listened to my heart." " Did..did she tell you that you were engaged?" Scully asked, her voice wavering slightly. " Yes. Why?" Mulder pulled away and looked at her. " What did Diana tell you?" " She told me you have 'remembered' being engaged to her, that the doctors had said not to discourage you," she made a face. " I should have known she was lying." " It doesn't matter anymore, we're together now. That's all that matters," he moved closer again and brushed his lips against hers in a gentle, loving kiss. " Mmm. I've been dreaming of that since you kissed me goodbye." " I didn't kiss you goodbye! You kissed me goodbye!" She exclaimed. She was about to protest further when Mulder silenced her with a long and passionate kiss. " I think you'll agree, it's time to stop saying goodbye," he murmured lovingly, before lowering her to the ground and covering her lips with his again. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------- Later that night, as Mulder and Scully held each other close in her bed, Scully watched Mulder as he slept. A smile flirted with her lips as he tightened his arms around her possessively. She could only think of one thing as she lay in the safety of his embrace. And that was something she was certain of, with all her heart and her soul. _______________________________ End of part five. End of story.
